Fowler, the Cesta is built on a sculpted frame rather than a plain stem — the structure is the design, and the gilded iron finish makes it read as worked metal rather than a support holding a shade up. At 27 lb it carries real mass, which is both what a sculptural frame requires and what keeps a 60-inch lamp steady.
The oval shade is the other distinguishing choice. Measuring roughly 17.5 inches one way and 22 the other, at 11.25 inches deep, it throws light along its long axis — so the lamp spreads wider in one direction than the other. That matters when placing it: an oval shade suits a position beside a sofa or across a corner better than open floor space, where a round shade would distribute more evenly.
